Well, we didn’t get in to the Fringe this year. In fact, at spot 167 on the Wait List it’s kind of unlikely that claw our way to the top. Even figuring the normal attrition rate of 20-30 shows, 137 “accidents” would be tough to pull off. Even for us.
However, if there is one bright spot, [...]

Check out page 24 of the March issue of Minnesota Monthly to read more about the “cheeky scamps” at Arlo, and get a breakdown of what we spent on [...]

We rated a nod in the AV Club’s roundup of Twin Cities holiday shows:
If you were more interested in MTV than The Golden Girls in the ’80s, or your current TV-watching habits don’t include the Lifetime network, do yourself a favor and get to know Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia. Those old broads were funny, [...]

Jay Gabler gives us some kind words in his TC Daily Planet Review:
Given the material and its tone, this seems almost absurd to write, but from its debut production—an übergay version of The Importance of Being Earnest—to this sophomore show, Theatre Arlo is actually demonstrating real artistic growth. I recommended the first show to anyone who [...]

Metromix’s Annie DeSouza gives us a shout-out:
I’m putting a hold on my Pre-Thanksgiving Christmas Ban for 2009. I’m typically 100% against Christmas things before Thanksgiving, but this month’s calendar seemed to be full of them. Besides, even though this event started last week, it’s occuring weekly on Sundays until December 20, 2009 so it’s not all [...]

We rated a mention in a roundup of holiday shows on TC Daily Planet:
A Christmas Carol: The Golden Girls Remix, Theatre Arlo
The troupe that debuted this fall with a gay(er) production of The Importance of Being Earnest “remixes” the Dickens classic, inserting Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia. And they’re doing their homework: Arlo’s Matthew Foster tells [...]

Arlo opened its first production last night, and while we were up against the closing night of Minnesota Twins: Lost in Yonkers, did manage to snag a positive review from Jay Gabler of TC Daily Planet:
The production is a romp in the best sense of the word, a loose caper that feels largely improvised. The production’s [...]

So it’s not even like we need to do the show at all, even, because we’ve achieved the ultimate goal of any Twin Cities theater company: a mention on Fringe Famous:
Lovingly filed under the How The Hell Did I Not See This Sooner section of FringeFamous is a little something called Theatre Arlo. Their mission statement [...]

So! Fringe Famous mentioned us today. EXCITING!
In other news, people have been wondering who we are. Our cast for “Earnest” is Kevin McLaughlin, Mike Postle, James Napoleon Stone (who is new to town, so everyone say hi!) and Zoe Benston. Bill Stiteler is directing. And Matthew Foster is producing. ‘N’ stuff.
If you’re wondering why there are so [...]

Jay Gabler of the Twin Cities Daily Planet mentioned our upcoming production of The Importance of Being Earnest:
…I’m really looking forward to the next Earnest slated to bow in Minneapolis. Fringe Festival PR director Matthew Foster’s new collective Theatre Arlo is committed to spending less on sets than the cost of a single top-priced ticket for [...]
